American Airlines Teams Up With The All-New Sports Museum of America

NEW YORK (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) July 28, 2008 -- The Sports Museum of America (SmA) (www.sportsmuseum.com) today announced that American Airlines has been selected as the official airline for the nation's first-ever all-sports experience, which opened last month in New York City.

More than 50 single-sport Halls of Fame, national governing bodies, and museums from across North America are represented in this next-generation museum, attracting visitors from all over the world. These include the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, OH, as well as halls of fame for basketball, soccer, hockey, golf and 15 others. Also included are national governing bodies like the United States Olympic Committee in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Hockey, US Soccer, USA Wrestling and a dozen others.

News Image As a sponsor and marketing partner, American Airlines will have the opportunity to reach its core demographic through branding, signage, events and a variety of co-promotional activities.

We are delighted to partner with The Sports Museum of America in presenting this truly unique experience, said Chuck Imhof, Vice President, Sales for Greater New York of American Airlines. What a wonderful opportunity for children and adults alike to appreciate America's great sports heritage by getting involved in it interactively.

Located in historic Lower Manhattan at the base of the famed Canyon of Heroes, the Sports Museum of America showcases the spirit of America through sports, including the inspiring stories and heroes that resonate with fans of all ages. SmA is also the new permanent home of the Heisman Trophy, as well as the Billie Jean King International Women's Sports Center, which includes the first ever women's sports hall of fame.

We chose American Airlines for the Sports Museum of America because of its superb reputation and leadership in the airline industry, said Philip Schwalb, Founder and CEO of the Sports Museum of America. We've designed SmA as a truly universal sports experience and partnering with American Airlines is a natural extension of our strategy to be America's number one sports destination for everyone in the U.S., as well as for international visitors to our shores.

The Sports Museum of America will have the opportunity to reach American Airlines customers and help spread the word about American Airlines ongoing programs, new routes and initiatives. American Airlines will benefit from a strong association with SmA's Hall of Halls Gallery, and with assisting SmA visitors with their travel needs to the 50+ Founding Sports Partners destinations.
