Swap Out That Old Appliance and Make Life Easier This Winter
Frigidaire®
Energy Star Certified Models Help Consumers Save
Appliances Are an Important Part of Cost-Saving Measures Around The
House
AUGUSTA, Ga. (Business Wire EON/PRWEB ) September 25, 2008 --
Did you know appliances can help put fuel in your tank? Experts
nationwide are weighing in on the best cost-saving moves homeowners can
make and urging Americans to plan ahead as we head into what’s
predicted to be an expensive winter. One essential change according to
the U.S. Department of Energy – make sure your
appliances are not costing you money each month.
The U.S. government is predicting a 20-30 percent increase in heating
prices this winter over last year, according to an August 12, 2008
report from the Energy Information Administration1.
States are urging homeowners to avoid waiting for the first snowflake to
fall before taking action to make their homes more energy-efficient. One
cost-saving home improvement that may not seem obvious to many consumers
is swapping out old appliances for newer ENERGY
STAR®
certified models. By installing a new Frigidaire ENERGY STAR refrigerator,
freezer
and front
load washing machine you could save
more than $500 this year alone.
Energy Star Appliances Use Less Water, Less Energy
The U.
S. Department of Energy says appliances have two price tags –
the one you pay to bring it home and the money you pay for the energy
and water it uses. If you haven’t purchased
new appliances recently, chances are your refrigerator, washing machine
and dishwasher are costing you money each month. Marty O’Gorman,
Vice President and General Manager of the Freezer Division at Electrolux
Major Appliances said people are just starting to understand how far
energy-efficient technology has advanced in the past decade.
“In the past several months our retail
partners are reporting a dramatic increase in the number of consumers
asking smart questions in the appliance department about which
appliances use the most energy,” O’Gorman
said. “To answer that need we’ve
created an in-store consumer education experience that spells out
exactly how much money they can save on their energy and water bills
with the purchase of some of our ENERGY STAR certified appliances.”
For instance, a new ENERGY STAR refrigerator like the Frigidaire
Gallery Series Counter-Depth Side-by-Side model uses 40 percent less
energy than a refrigerator purchased in 2001. In addition to using less
energy, this Frigidaire refrigerator offers additional new products
features that homeowners are sure to love. For example, the new
PureAir™ filtration system to keep foods
fresh, the PureSource™
Water Filtration System, a door alarm and a wine rack. When
consumers swap out their old top-load washer for a new Frigidaire
Affinity™ front-load model, they will save
18 gallons of water for every load of wash. Like refrigerators, when
you swap out your laundry appliances for the new ENERGY STAR certified
models, you’ll not only be saving energy and
money, you will also reap the benefits of the new technology in terms of
usage and style. The Frigidaire
Affinity King-Size Capacity washers offer digital controls, a
delayed wash cycle, iWash™ technology, which
customizes the cycle based on load size. The Affinity front-loading
washer also does not contain an agitator, allowing the model to be
gentler on your wardrobe than top-load models. Frigidaire front-load
washers retail between $649-999 MSRP. In five years, the water and
energy bill savings alone would exceed the cost of the new unit purchase.
