Server Armory - Easy to Find When the Lights Went Out

When Hurricane Gustav blew through the Gulf Coast region yesterday, power outages became widespread throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. In Hammond, LA, however, one facility provided a beacon of light in the darkness.

Hammond, LA (PRWEB) September 2, 2008 - When Hurricane Gustav blew through the Gulf Coast region yesterday, power outages became widespread throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. In Hammond, LA, however, one facility provided a beacon of light in the darkness. Server Armory, a full-service regional data center, never lost power. As designed, Server Armory automatically switched to generated power as soon as utility power failed. Chris Barcelona, a Southeastern University student who lives nearby said, "The whole area was dark except for the Server Armory building in the middle of downtown. It lit up the entire block."

Server Armory's two generators, equipped with dual fuel sources and automatic failover from one fuel source to the other, continue to power the data center as power outages in the region persist. These outages are expected to be experienced for an extended period of time in some places in the region. The data center also features redundant fiber optic connections from multiple vendors accessing the facility from disparate directions. "With the level of redundancy built into Server Armory," said Server Armory CEO, Jeff Danos, "Our clients can be assured that service is not going to be interrupted - no matter what disaster strikes."

As soon as it became apparent that Hurricane Gustav posed a significant threat to the region, the data center worked tirelessly to accommodate companies that felt threatened by the storm and wanted to quickly relocate their servers to a secure facility. During the emergency period, technicians staffed the facility on a 24-hour basis to ensure system performance was maintained and to assist clients if they required help. The facility experienced no downtime and will remain fully staffed until the emergency is over.

Hurricane Gustav was the first real test of Server Armory's new facility and improved disaster preparations. Everything worked flawlessly. "We were so well-prepared that the Disaster Team was concerned when we had so few last minute preparations," added Danos, "Other than bringing in food and blowing up the air mattresses, we were ready."
