Former Amazon.com Technologist Contrasts the Beauty of Seattle and the Warmth of its People with the Dreariness of the Dot-com World in His Roman à Clef

From its fascinating water views to breathtaking skyline, author Kalpanik S. captures the beauty of Seattle using powerful imagery; while using his equally powerful imagination to describe his struggle to find harmony and humanity in the technology jungle of the dot-com world.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 2, 2008 -- In his new book "Seattle Adventures: Seattle Memoirs, inspired by my stint at Amazon.com" author Kalpanik S., an Asian Indian Technologist takes readers on an adventurous journey through Seattle. Using panoramic photos and a hilarious personal story, Kalpanik explains how he left behind his home and friends in Silicon Valley and moved to Seattle to work for "Congo.com" (a fictionalized company which sounds similar to Amazon.com), where he and his family had to cope with the drastically different Northwest climate and adjust their lives in a significant way. He also describes several interesting encounters with Seattle's denizens, a very interesting story of the block party in Capitol Hill, a hip area in Seattle, and his new digs in the foothill of Cascade mountains.

"Seattle's manic-depressive climate with glorious summers and gloomy winters and my stint at Amazon.com invoked very powerful emotions" said Kalpanik S. "I believe these powerful emotions served as a catalyst and have allowed me to come up with a powerful story. My unique experiences, my distinctive conversational writing style and professional grade photographs make this book entertaining and enjoyable for everyone."

Seattle Adventures introduces the fascinating city of Seattle to readers through the use of perfect panoramic photographs, humorous anecdotes, superb imagination and first hand experiences. The Author makes his story come alive and make the readers believe it is their story; and that they are seeing and living it with him.His writing continues to make his readers smile with the unexpected punch lines, and surprise them with hidden messages.

The book is available on Amazon.com, target.com and several other online and offline retailers. Amazon.com is currently offering a 20% discount on the Kindle version of the book.

About the Author:
Kalpanik S. is an immigrant technologist who came to the USA on a fellowship by the University of California in late eighties to study and do research in Computer Science. He chose Artificial Intelligence as the focus area of the specialization of his graduate studies and research. After completing his graduate studies, Kalpanik has worked at both small and large corporations including Oracle Corporation and PeopleSoft in Silicon Valley, Amazon.com in Seattle and several others in California, Washington and Tennessee. He chose to use a pen name "Kalpanik" (pronounced as Kaalp-Nik) meaning "imaginary" (in Hindi), which allows him to separate his literary identity from his professional identity, and to exercise literary freedom seldom available to corporate executives. Kalpanik S. is also author of Artificial Imagination.
