NJ.com - Now Easier to Navigate

NJ.com annouces redesign and new features.

Jersey City, NJ (PRWEB) August 25, 2008 -- Just in time for football season and back-to-school, NJ.com, the leading local source of real-time news, information and interactivity, has been redesigned to make its wealth of in-depth content easier to find and use. With over 2 million unique users per month*, the popular Web site provides a wide range of news and information that New Jersey residents need everyday. A site this comprehensive requires an interface that streamlines navigation and provides an intuitive path to multi-levels of content.

The new design is easy on the eyes. It is a clean and attractive look that helps visitors quickly find what they want, including the latest local news, sports and weather. The redesign also includes prominent direct links to local county and regional news. Opportunities to share your comments, photos and videos also are easier to find and use, making participation in the local online community effortless. The new home page serves as a guide to the extensive information on the site. Neatly arranged, each of the home page categories - Real-Time News, Sports, Weather, Entertainment, Classifieds, Interact and Business - remain in the same position, so visitors gain familiarity with the layout.

The depth of information available on NJ.com drove the site redesign. The NJ.com team included experts in usability, search engine optimization and Web design; their objective was to "make sure it is easy for users to find the depth of quality interactive media that the site offers," according to Barbara Chodos, general manager of NJ.com. "We wanted users to be able to quickly dive deep into the content. We achieved this by offering more search options right on the home page."

The home page of NJ.com is an illustrated site index to the topical content. Sports fans can instantly select the sport & team they are interested in. Each section of the home page offers this level of choice and flexibility.

There are exciting new features also. Weather, located on the upper right, provides a quick local update, several links and a search box. The Classifieds and Entertainment sections have their own navigation, speedily guiding users to information they want and need.

NJ.com is highly interactive and now a list of stories with the most comments can be found at a glance, as well as easy access to forums. Additional options to participate include a direct link from the home page to upload videos or photos.

Affiliated with 14 New Jersey Newspapers, including The Star-Ledger, NJ.com has continually been a leader in employing the latest technology and providing more, current, local news. Barbara Chodos, general manager of NJ.com stated, "The site redesign is another example of our unique position in the market. The site is more exciting than ever as a guide and information source for our area."
