Hope for Incest and Sexual Abuse Survivors is Focus of Lamplighters Founder's New Book

Sexual abuse does not have to destroy you. "Repair Your Life," an inspiring and informative memoir by an incest and sexual abuse survivor, can give you the tools to recover and become the person you know you were born to be.

Cornville, AZ (PRWEB) June 16, 2008 -- No one deserves abuse. No one has to live a life of shame as a result of abuse. Hope for the victim can be found in Marjorie McKinnon's new book "Repair Your Life: A Program for Recovery from Incest & Childhood Sexual Abuse" (ISBN 9781932690521, Loving Healing Press, 2008).

Marjorie McKinnon, an incest and sexual abuse survivor, has created a six-stage program called REPAIR to help victims overcome shame and destructive behaviors. REPAIR stands for Recognition, Entry, Process, Awareness, Insight, Rhythm and Post-Recovery. A chapter is devoted to each stage with writing exercises to accompany it. The processes in "Repair Your Life" will help the victim transform into a survivor.

Marjorie McKinnon tells her personal story of childhood abuse, how it affected her adult life, her choices, and her children's lives. This woman's incredible story of survival is reason enough to buy the book. If anyone has experienced abuse, it is Marjorie, and if she could recover from it, then anyone can. Her choices, mistakes, and successes are all told honestly to prove abuse victims can still live fulfilling lives. McKinnon writes to help those who have suffered the pain she knows far too well.

McKinnon details how abuse affects children and how those children then grow up to find themselves in abusive adult relationships. She provides valuable tools to teach survivors how to stop entering into destructive relationships and how to overcome their shame rather than temporarily burying it in addictions. Readers learn to recognize their situations as abuse and to overcome low self-esteem so they can find the help and joy awaiting them.

"Repair Your Life" provides a holistic approach for the abuse survivor to become an all-around healthy, happy, and whole person again. The book is a must-read for all survivors of sexual abuse as well as their close friends and family members. Counselors and therapists will gain insights to help them treat their clients effectively. By following McKinnon's REPAIR program, the road to recovery can transform a victim into a survivor.
