Amway Global's New Dishwasher Detergent Helps Preserve Waterways

DISH DROPS Phosphate-Free Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Powder Helps Protect Aquatic Life While Cleaning Dishes Better

Ada, Mich. (PRWEB) October 22, 2008 -- Beating the deadline to develop a more environmentally friendly dishwasher detergent by almost two years, Amway Global launches DISH DROPS® Phosphate-Free Automatic Dishwasher Detergent Powder. All manufacturers of automatic dishwasher detergents were challenged in 2006 to develop a phosphate-free powder formula by July 1, 2010. This challenge was set forth by environmental activists, the Soap and Detergent Association (SDA), and restrictive legislation in select states. Between now and 2010, at least eight ─ and as many as 50 ─ states will severely limit the use of phosphates in automatic dishwasher detergents.

Amway Global not only released a phosphate-free formula before it was required to do so, but it developed an alternative before many of the leading, competitive brands. Even better, DISH DROPS Phosphate-Free has patent-pending technology that is shown to perform better than most common dishwasher detergents, even those which contain phosphates. It has a planet-sensitive formula that combines enzymes and oxygenators with naturally-derived cleaning factors to power away food and grease easily. It's super concentrated and requires less than one tablespoon per dispenser cup.

Phosphates are compounds used in many cleaning products. They're also considered nutrients, essential for plant growth and therefore found in most fertilizers. However, a problem arises when the level of phosphates released into our waterways gets too high, resulting in a complex chain reaction. This reaction begins with excessive plant and algae growth, and as more grow, more eventually die. The resulting organic material becomes food for a growing number of bacteria that decompose it. As bacteria consume the dissolved oxygen, fish are left unable to breathe. If uncontrolled, this process can lead to the formation of dead zones in our waterways, void of aquatic life.
