The Truth About Icewine: a Delicate Tasting Straight from a Poet's Heart

Poetry can be just like a fine, well-cellared wine. It ages with beauty, delicacy and grace. It warms the heart and the soul like a silken treasure to be savoured and cherished.

(PRWEB) October 10, 2008 -- It is appropriate, then, for writer/poet Sharolyn Vettese to entitle her new book of poetry The Truth about Icewine: Poetry for the Wife, the Mother and the Lady about Town since icewine is that glorious nectar distilled from late-harvested frozen grapes.

Vettese is the poetic vintner here, offering precious drops of poetry to savour, and distilling them into a collection of sweet, yet worldly-wise, thoughts on the nature of life, love and the art of living.

Vettese writes with an eclectic pen. She writes on marriage, religion, the creative process, fear, joy, children, men -- and life itself. She writes both movingly and provocatively -- and, certain selected poems are mildly erotic. Particular standout pieces here are Two Eggs for Breakfast, Your Hand, and The Bear on the Plane.

Poetry fans will have a real appreciation for The Truth about Icewine, for what Vettese manages to paint, with a decidedly delicate brush, is an intimate portrait of her own life, beliefs, loves, hopes, and fears.

She reveals much about herself in The Truth about Icewine -- and shows herself to be much as we all are: simply human with human foibles, and therefore, someone very much worth knowing. That's only one of the many reasons that makes reading The Truth About Icewine so delightful and appealing.

Sharolyn Vettese was born in Saskatoon and raised in Tunisia, Italy, the U.S. and Cameroon. She is a graduate of the University of Toronto creative writing/poetry program. She has been a community activist, a political candidate, an environmentalist and an entrepreneur and currently lives in Toronto with her husband and three sons.
