Seattle, WA (PRWEB) October 8, 2008 -- Join ChefShop.com (http://www.ChefShop.com) as we welcome Marcella Hazan to Seattle to celebrate the launch of her long awaited memoirs, Amarcord: Marcella Remembers (Gotham Books, 2008. List price, $27.50). This event will take place at ChefShop.com's Seattle warehouse (1415 Elliott Ave. West between Magnolia and Queen Anne) on Tuesday evening, October 14, 2008. It promises to be an evening to remember.

Over the past 35 years, Marcella has become "America's Godmother of Italian Cooking," producing six classic cookbooks, receiving countless awards (including a knighthood from the Italian government,) and teaching countless students (famous and infamous alike,) in kitchens around the world.

Her latest book chronicles her fascinating and sometimes harrowing path from being a science teacher in a small Italian town, to becoming America's Italian culinary icon who literally changed the way we eat and live at the table.

The Evening with Marcella Hazan event will include a full meal of food and wine. Of course, it will also include many stories and an opportunity to meet the always-inspiring Marcella and her lifelong collaborator and writing partner, Victor Hazan, himself an authority on Italian food and wine.

The fee for the evening, which includes a full meal and wine is $110 with a copy of an autographed hardcover copy of "Amarcord: Marcella Remembers," and $82.50 without a copy of the book.

Registration will begin online Wednesday, October 1, on the ChefShop.com website - (http://chefshop.com/items.asp?CC=Hazan&Tp=&iTpStatus=0&Bc=). Space is limited and reservations must be made in advance.

Doors open on Tuesday at 6:00 PM for shopping and sipping. The evening's brief program starts at 7:00, with a buffet to follow. Additional copies of Amarcord will be available for purchase that evening, but please remember that only books purchased beforehand at ChefShop.com will be autographed. Please do not bring pre-purchased books to the event.

All profits from the evening will benefit the Seattle SlowFood School Garden Project.
