Northeast Ohio Now Easier to Navigate

cleveland.com announces redesign and new features.

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) September 3, 2008 -- Just in time for the Browns season, high school football and back-to-school, www.cleveland.com, the leading local source of real-time news, information and interactivity, has been redesigned to make its wealth of in-depth content easier to find and use. With over 1.2 million unique users per month*, the popular Web site provides a wide range of news and information that Northeast Ohio residents need every day. A site this comprehensive requires an interface that streamlines navigation and provides an intuitive path to multi-levels of content.

The new design has a clean and attractive look that helps visitors quickly find what they want, neatly arranged. Each of the home page categories - Real-Time News, Sports, Weather, Entertainment, Classifieds, Interact and Business - remain in the same position, so visitors gain familiarity with the layout. Opportunities to share your comments, photos and videos also are easier to find and use, making participation in the local online community even easier.

The depth of information available on cleveland.com drove the site redesign. The cleveland.com team included experts in usability, search engine optimization and Web design; their objective was to "make sure it is easy for users to find the depth of quality interactive media that the site offers," according to Denise Polverine, Editor-in-Chief of cleveland.com. "We wanted users to be able to quickly dive deep into the content. We achieved this by offering more search options right on the home page."

For example, sports fans can instantly select the sport and team they are interested in. A High School Sports search box allows the visitor to get right to the latest information on the school, sport and team they are interested in. Each section of the home page offers this level of choice and flexibility.

There are exciting new features also. Weather, located on the upper right, provides a quick local update, several links and a search box. In the case of extreme weather the Weather tab will turn red, immediately alerting the viewer to a storm or other hazard. The Classifieds and Entertainment sections have their own navigation, speedily guiding users to information they want and need.

cleveland.com is highly interactive and now a list of stories with the most comments can be found at a glance, as well as easy access to forums. Additional options to participate include a direct link from the home page to upload videos or photos.

cleveland.com has continually been a leader providing extensive, current, local news though it's affiliation with The Plain Dealer, Northeast Ohio's largest news gathering operations, and Sun News, the region's powerhouse of in-depth, local news coverage. Eliza Wing, President of cleveland.com stated, "The site redesign is another example of our unique position as the leading online news and information source in the market. The site is more exciting than ever as an information source for Northeast Ohio."
