Knifemakers' Guild Attracts Attention -- Three Day Knife Event - Knife Displays-Cutting Competitions-Educational Knife Seminars
July 27th thru July 29th Knifemakers' Guild holds the 38th Annual show at Buena Vista Palace, Orlando, FL, across from Downtown Disney.

Since the Knifemakers' Guild was founded in 1970 the purpose has been to preserve and promote the art of handmade knives with continued 'integrity and excellence' for 38 years. At present there are approximately 300 dedicated members from the United States and twelve other countries. Several hundred of these artisans will be attending this year's show and will have on display their latest knife designs for the thousands of show visitors interested in custom made knives to add to their collections or to purchase for general usage. www.knifemakersguild.com
Three amazing days of knife events have been planned starting with the knife show opening to the general public Friday July 27th 12:00 pm (noon) to 6: 00 pm Saturday July 28th 10:00 am to 6:00 PM. "The first two days of the show is for the thousands of collectors, investors and all others interested in knives and to meet their favorite knifemakers, viewing the newest knives and making a purchase to add to their collections or just a using knife." states President Gil Hibben.
Sunday July 29th from 10:00 am to 3:00pm there will be Educational Seminars on knife making. Certain knifemakers will be holding these seminars showing the 'How To's' of making a knife. Also on Sunday the Knifemakers' Guild will hold the exciting cutting competitions to determine which knife cuts the best. There will be various competitions from cutting through up to a dozen plastic filled water bottles in one felled swoop, cutting 5 rolling ping pong balls, cutting through a 2x4 or taking a swipe at a rope 1" to 2" thick and cutting it in half.
Famous collections of staggering value will be displayed for the enjoyment and edification of the attendees. An emphasis on education and display will be a factor. A trophy for the best collection will be awarded. "If you have never been to a knife show up to the caliber of the Knifemakers' Guild you owe it to your self," commented a knife collector.
The art of knife making has been taken to a whole new level of excellence by these artisans of the Guild. Handles are fashioned from some of the most exotic materials imaginable such as the tusk of a wooly mammoth which roamed the earth 25 thousand years ago. The colors in the mammoth tusks can vary from pure white to shades of brown, black or blues depending on where it had been buried in the earth for thousands of years. Iridescent mother of pearl from the depths of the Pacific Ocean which gleams with "Fire" in pink and gold hues is another material used in the making of the knife handles. Some of the handle material may have gold wire inlay or even an entire knife made of solid gold as was a replica of King Tut's dagger was made several years ago by the late Buster Warenski. Diamonds, rubies, emeralds and other stones are used in the making of some custom knives. There are various steels used in making the blade of a knife. Carbon steel, stainless steel, pattern welded Damascus or forged steel. Pattern welded Damascus is very popular and very expensive as the steel is hand made and there can be hundreds of layers of steel in forming a design/ pattern. The 40th President of the United States received a knife that had a Damascus blade which had 13 United States Flag, complete in every detail, in the steel. Not just on the surface of the blade, but forged in to the steel. "Whether an attendee wants a knife to add to their collection or a using knife they will definitely find the perfect knife for them" commented a Guild member.
