Dr. Randy Morris of IVF 1 Interviewed on Fox News in the Morning about Older Women's Pregnancies

Dr. Morris discusses the rise of older moms and whether or not the general public is misled about how this happens.

Naperville, IL (PRWEB) July 14, 2007 -- With the rising number of older mothers, Fox News in the Morning had some questions to ask Dr. Randy Morris about the general public's perception of how older women are getting pregnant. The interview, conducted the morning of Monday, July 9, 2007 discussed the trend in which women are misled into thinking that in vitro fertilization allows older women to become pregnant with their own eggs.

Recent news coverage of celebrities and other moms in their fifties and sixties, while making the news because of the implausible nature of the occurrence, is often leading the audience to believe that this is an increasingly safer and more common experience, and that an older woman may use her own eggs to become pregnant. However, the news coverage of these pregnancies mentions nothing of the possibility of third party reproduction (the use of a donor's eggs or sperm). As a natural part of aging, women lose the ability to produce eggs and therefore must use a donor's egg for IVF.

During the interview, Dr. Morris speaks out against this deceptive method of leading older women to believe they can actually parent their own children. While many older celebrities are becoming pregnant and giving birth, few of these pregnancies are by the woman's own eggs, and therefore many are not actually genetically tied to their children. Dr. Morris' interview is an attempt to correct this assumption and inform women that using the process of in vitro fertilization does not mean an older woman can now have a biological child even after she has stopped producing viable eggs.
